A thread for things that blew your mind. Try not to give it away. Example:
In Meet the Engineer, that's not a campfire.

I hadn't noticed that before. And so of course I had to go back and watch the other team videos.
It seems the demoman in meet the demoman is trying very hard to get himself blown up. Luckily for him, some of his grenades are duds.

"WHO TOUCHED MY GUN!" Soldier did.
The BLU Soldier's shotgun is a RED Spy's revolver in disguise.
The Sniper smokes cigarettes. And so does the demoman. In fact, the only classes who have been shown to smoke are the three who could NOT do with telltale smoke or fire to give away their position or ignite their bomb ingredients.
The coach bus that drove by behind the RED Sniper at the end of the movie says "BLU DOG".
The Demoman's grenades are made of cordite, which is an explosive made mostly of nitroglycerine. However, unlike nitroglycerine, cordite is a "slow" explosive, designed for forcing air in a gun barrel... so the demoman could make explosives 10 times as poweful that detonate on impact, if he only removed a couple ingredients. The fact that he does not shows that the overpowered, drunken, swearing, black Scottish cyclops, is by far the most gentlemanlike of all the classes, as he nerfs his own grenades for us winers.
And the Spy is the least, which is obvious by his whole disrespectful, mom-joke-making attitude.

Jeziah:
Also, the sniper smoking doesn't really fit in:

Also also, the Spy has never joked about anyone's mother. He was dead serious the entire time.

In-game domination clips, I meant. And the sniper smoking sorta blew MY mind, when I first saw it. I never thought of him doing anything at all related to smoking, yet in the Meet the Sniper movie (my favourite Meet The, I've watched it many many times) the giveaway ashtray is the size of a sixth the screen, when you see it. And I only gave away things that I felt I had to. As for the rest, " Try not to give it away",

This game is set in the late 60s. Everyone smoked back then.

So for things that blew my mind today; I found out Windows Vista can do symlinks. That woulda been so useful to know, like, three years ago. To make matters worse, my copy of Windows 7 arrived today too. Stupid death-bed reveals.
To those that doesn't know what a symlink is, I promise you don't care.

Thanks for putting that out there, I never would have had any idea otherwise! +1 to the "if only I had known" bit... this would have saved me a lot of headache working on my Master's thesis... :\ I'm interested to hear what you think about Windows 7; I've heard it's decent, but nothing from a dev/enthusiast perspective yet. Symlinks are in Windows 7, too. And XP (to an extent).

[/hijack] You might have to wait a while longer -- I'm actually still waiting on the SSD I want to come back in stock, and I don't feel the need to go through the whole backup/install/migrate thing until I get it. For something I noticed today; My TV/cable hasn't had the sound cutting out randomly after all -- I've just been watching movies with Bad Words in them. Well, last weekend actually, but I didn't want to derail the thread any more.

Something I just noticed today; I have a couch in my room Also Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (the book) alludes to/rips off Monty Python's Flying Circus quite a lot, but you'd never noticed until you spend all day watching MP vids on Youtube while finishing your 8th run through the HHGttG series.

There were so many people on the L4D2 forums tonight that I lagged right out of the TF2 forums. The Valve-server forums. That's gotta be half a million active users, or something.

Now for a dead serious one: They're building a McDonalds in the Louvre. What does that say about our culture?

They're building a McDonalds in the Louvre. What does that say about our culture? Actually, that says that the young, hip crowd that would eat at McDonalds is going to the Louvre often enough that it warrants one in the building? Also, I've eaten at the Louvre. An alternative isn't such a bad idea.

Yes, but the Louvre is THE symbol of modern culture. It should have exotic food, not cheap crap. And as for "young, hip" people who would eat at McDonalds, that was the generation of 15 years ago. Young people just don't eat there anyomore; and the older, more aware people just shouldn't. It's like designating an art gallery in the main building as the "smoker's section". Antiquitated, offensive and disgusting.
Not that I have anything against Big Macs. EVERYBODY still loves Big Macs. But that's all.

Jeziah, you may not know this, but our community originated on a server called "Old Folks Home." If we talk about "the young and hip crowd", we mean people in the 30-50 age bracket. ...now git off mah lawn, ya hooligans!!

Speaking of server origins, I still don't get the name. A link to this video that it is from would be helpful =)
