I saw this game a while ago. It looked really cool. I was thinking of getting it... This is not a "in", just a maybe. If anyone else comes along before I decide they can take it.

Ooh that looks like fun, I'm in!
They should have named it "Suicidal Robot Ninjas in Space" though.

Awesome, that's four! Rhench, Billy, and Whatsit, just hit the donate button and send $7.50 my way and I'll get you a copy.
[Quick note, I may be busy/afk until tomorrow night or so, so don't expect the game immediately. :-) ]
If anyone else wants in on a 4-pack, you can organize yourselves here.

I have a 2.8Ghz (each core) AM2+ and it works at 100%, and lags, playing TF2. What is wrong with my crazy computer?

Firstly, those that have the game, is it any good? If so, I would be interested in getting a 4 pak with peoples. thechurch: You computer is probably fine. A slower processor doesn't typically hurt games that much on the whole. That said, it's not so simple to say exactly what will happen with a given program on a given box (which is why I've got so many questionable qualifiers). Ah, the joys of PC gaming. Jeziah: I dunno. Do you have anything else running? Any mysterious (or not-so-mysterious) processes taking up cpu time?

Dunno what everyone else's opinions were, but here's what I got in my ~1.5 hours of playing last night:
1. Seemed like a lot of the games I joined started to lag pretty bad (give up and leave server bad) after the number of people got beyond 10 or so, but then I joined a 20 server and there was minimal lag, so *shrug*?
2. Maybe I just need to play more, but I was getting awful confused on the maps that had a lot of gravity direction changes, particularly after getting the double/triple jump upgrades. Jump-jump *GRAVITYCHANGESDIRECTION* and I've no idea where I'm going.
3. Weak integration with steam. Shift-Tab doesn't work for me in game, all I get is an interaction noise when I press left-shift. I'm surprised how much this burns me, but not being able to join games that a friend is on kinda sucks, particularly because:
4. I'm sure it's about 20x more fun playing with friends, aside from there being:
5. No voice chat.
It's a neat game, and I think it's a fun change from killing all of you in TF2, but the above can be a bit bothersome at times. I'm still feeling out how dashing helps you maneuver in the air, and what kinds of ranges I can expect to be able to hit people at, but I'll stick with it for a bit yet.

I'm terribad at this game, but it has a lot of potential, particularly if they implement a friend join system and a voice chat system. I noticed a lot of lag at first too, and it got better in the larger games for me as well. Could have been a coincidence.

sudo goad borderline people; The game looks fun and it's inexpensive; I'm sure it will be tuns of fun if we get a mkwea game going. And there is always skype or vent for chat. So come on other people I want to play this game.

@pneuma: No, I used Microsoft Performance Logs to watch the performance of TF2 (and TF2 alone). I also noticed that my graphics card usage is incredibly low while playing (13% -ish), and since I know that the TF2 engine is capable of offloading much of the graphics processing to the CPU, it may just be forcing my processor to work overtime on my (running at less than room temperature during a low-fps scenario, dear me) video card's behalf, which would be annoying. It could also come from the facts that TF2 can't handle quad-cores very well AT ALL (better to get a dual core of the same core speed, much better) and that my processor is just a quad-core with 2 cores permanently disabled so that AMD could sell it cheaper, but I don't think it's this because I knew this guy who had the same processor as me (and the ATI equivalent of my video card) who got 200 fps where I got 30. Ah well, I'm never going to figure it out- best just mess around with game settings until I find a setting that actually effects performance (the difference in framerate between 0xAA and 16QCxAA is 0 fps). Speaking of which... Church, what's your config?

funny you should ask jeziah. it's funny because my config is awful, and it's a laptop.
Toshiba Satellite A215 Processor: AMD Turion 64 X2 mobile TL-56 (aparently 1.80 GHz RAM: 2 gigs Video: sooooooooo... ATI Radeon X1200
The nice thing about this laptop: 1) it was free, 2) it can run tf2 3) surprisingly good speakers (but i use a headset so...)

1. Seemed like a lot of the games I joined started to lag pretty bad (give up and leave server bad) after the number of people got beyond 10 or so, but then I joined a 20 server and there was minimal lag, so *shrug*? I'm not sure but I think it's a dedicated/listen server situation. Listen servers (ie hosted by players) will have worse lag and lower player limits because of said lag. Dedicated servers have fewer problems and so will tend to be bigger. Yeah I get that too, except I found that double- and triple-jump helped a lot. I've been trying to stick to the levels with a big central object to make things easier until I get accustomed to it. It's strange, I can add random unsupported games to steam and it will add the steam overlay for me, but this is the one game I've found where it doesn't work. I noticed the achievements aren't done either -- they're not anywhere but they're not really missing either. I expect they're just having trouble getting steamworks figured out and wanted to release it early to get some cashflow. They mentioned in that demo that they had big problems with XNA and had to completely rework the networking code 2-3 times, so this could be another aspect of that. Agreed, though I think that's due to their hypothetical steamworks issues, since voice chat is part of that. I think my biggest issue is the steep learning curve; players with more skill/experience are crazy tough to fight, so I spend a lot of time just trying to stay out of their crosshairs. Plus they get upgrades faster which makes it even harder. I think there's going to be this situation where the super-elite will make it nearly impossible to do anything. I hope I'm wrong, but that's where I see it headed.

sudo goad borderline people; Well, that can't be helped. Consider me successfully goaded I suppose. Ahhh, alright, I'll go in on a four-pack with scrambles and strata. Let me know the when and how.

Dedicated servers have fewer problems and so will tend to be bigger. That makes sense, but is there any way to distinguish between the two? I didn't see anything that stuck out for me. Yeah I get that too, except I found that double- and triple-jump helped a lot. I've been trying to stick to the levels with a big central object to make things easier until I get accustomed to it. I started to gravitate (meh) to those levels as well, and it did help. The games I joined, it seemed like there would be two to three people (on a 10-man) that had skill and would decimate everyone, four to five people that HAD absolutely no clue, and the remaining two or three that had a grasp on the general concepts, but wouldn't live long enough due to the skilled folk. I think I've been pretty ranty, but I actually do like the game a good bit, and I think it'll really be a blast when we're all able to play simultaneously. Edited to avoid personal vexation.

This is sounding more like a hilarious (lan-)party game than a general tromp around on the internet one. Kind of like Ricochet, or Big Bumpin'. Not to imply that it isn't fun or is inferior. Just that it works better as a general mixup game where everyone's kind of figuring it out.

well I want to give it a try so unless I get 2 more ppl I'm just going to buy it for myself tomorrow. I thought pneuma and strata both wanted in? That would only leave one more. is there any way to distinguish between the two? I didn't see anything that stuck out for me. There's a filter tab on the servers screen where you can set it to only show dedicated. You can also sort by ping which seems to work okay. Oh! And game with names like "Whatsit's Game" are probably not dedicated.
