So, some of you may be familiar with Mafia/Werewolf, others may not. For those who aren't, there are rules here: mafiascum.net/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page, specifically check out the Newbie guide, Rules and Roles sections.
The basic idea is that the players are divided into (usually) two factions: town and scum (mafia/werewolf/etc.) The objective of town is to lynch all the scum players and the scum goal is to kill all the townsfolk. The game is separated into two phases: day and night. During the day phase, all players may discuss, and try to come to a conclusion about who is scum. Everyone may vote to lynch a player, and at the end of the day phase the player with the most votes is lynched (killed and out of the game). During the night phase, the scum can communicate with each other (offboard) and select a target to kill at the end of the night. Play alternates between day and night phases until one side or the other is eliminated.
In addition, there may be special roles that vary from game-to-game, such as the detective (can "investigate" one player each night, determining their allignment) or the doctor (can choose one player to protect from being killed that night), or even the godfather (a scum that investigates as town to the detective). Of course these are just examples, and specific roles can and will be different in each game.
This post is to serve as an introduction to the game; I know Jamez and I will each be putting up threads for individual games soon, and other people are welcome to run their own games so if you're interested, sign up there!
