All sixteen teams were from Europe, Asia, or island countries because European, Asian and Oceanic teams dominate the competitive DOTA scene. Americans are too busy playing World of Warcraft and Halo competitively. That's no failure of Valve's.
DOTA 2 hype has been carried on every major gaming news site since the tournament was announced.

FALSE.
There were three americans in that tournament. THREE. Also, Dota2 seems slower to me, which makes me less interested. But, if more people I know are playing that, I'll definitely switch over.
