So Valve sent out an email saying there's an update, and they sent out the thing that tells servers and clients that there's an update, but there's no update yet. So nobody can launch TF2, and servers will try to update, not find one, and start up normally, and then start spitting out errors that there's an update.

There are some days when TF2 is just not worth all the frustration. My local copy of the game updated, but the server still won't update.
