It looks top shelf. The only issue I have with it is that the graphics card is integrated, but if you aren't using it for serious gaming it should not really matter.
I'd buy it if I needed a laptop and had money.

Well i guess more specifically I buying this for college. Perhaps i am thinking too far ahead since I will not be attending until this time next year. Will i find a cheaper laptop? The more I think about it, laptops can change by leaps and bounds in a year's time. This will be my Netbook of sorts, taking notes, surfing the web and playing the occasional Low end game while bored.

Yeah, there's gonna be a completely different market come next year, or even in 6 months' time, so if you're not going to use it the following year, it's probably better to wait. You'll almost certainly see better things at that price point before the year's over.
Also of note, that lappy should be able to swallow games like Peggle and WoW whole, even though you wouldn't want to push it too hard. If you stick to older and less graphically intensive titles it should run flawlessly. (I say should, because I've had a poor experience with ATI and a budget laptop...)

Yes, it looks to be a great machine, but with only 3 hours of battery life I don't know how it will handle the long, cordless college classes. See if they have a netbook for sale? If not, then they definetely will next year- I hear they're gearing up for a big netbook release.
