There's a snazzy new shotgun very obviously wielded by the Engineer in the TF2 Mac trailer at around 0:34.
Also lol, bin of hats.

Curiouser and curiouser..... www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=958897Interesting post but here is the relevant quote: "Info about Portal 2/Engie update: I heard ONE thing from Robin Walker about the Engie update. No dates, nothing like that. But apparently, when they released the engie video, a lot of people noticed a prop in the background. It was added just as clutter, some random item that might be found in the engie's room, but people made so much speculation about it, they went and implemented it. I have no idea what it is or what it does, but something in that video will become an item, but only because people predicted it will be an item. O.o "

I hate valve's teasers. I hate them so much. They do this shit on purpose and it makes me fill with 'the rage'. Like those monkeys in that movie that bit people and turned them into rage-zombies. I think it was called 'Rage-Zombies'.

Maybe to distinguish between the old items and the new items he will carry his toolbox over his shoulder instead, of infront of him, while placing the building?

No, the new info from that image is the map. The Engie and toolbox looks hastily assembled in Garry's Mod.

No, the new info from that image is the map. The Engie and toolbox looks hastily assembled in Garry's Mod. Yeah that toolbox is enormous. And to paraphrase Yahtzee : "oh boy yet another desert-industrial environment."

Hey a new environment takes a whole lot of new work, and all Valve mappers are currently working on HL2EP3 and Portal 2. The new map in the engineer update was hastily put together by a door-to-door hatter who was unfortunate enough to find their offices and not allowed to leave.

No, it's a new toolbox. The spots where the paint's been scraped off is different.
I really hope they go with new buildings. Just getting new weapons really isn't going to change the way that the class is played, a la Chargin' Targe, or the airblast, or Sandvich, or Buff Banner, or Jarate.
Giving replacements for the shotgun, pistol, and wrench would be like the less deviant weapons; Natascha, Huntsman, Direct Hit, Scottish Resistance, etc. They still cause changes in game play, but in less significant ways.
This is my fear.

So, since there's 13 pages, does that mean that the engineer update is 13 days away?

That's from last Halloween Scrambles. Unless they've updated it since...? Seems the same though.

img821.imageshack.us/f/robin.jpg/Because of this, I'm disallowing crafting of any kind while you are on the server. This will last until one day after the Engineer update is released.

I'm liking the interaction between this and the shotgun. Sentry's gotten a lot of kills under my control. It's about to die, so I release control. Hey look, 15 shotgun crits waiting for me to fend off the attackers.
And when I'm done with those crits, I can turn them to GOLD! MWAHAHAHAohwait.

I think you were right about the remote working well with ninjaneering, faded. All you have to do is throw down a lvl 1 sentry, and you basically have a lvl 2 sentry to point at people while you play medic (ie run around with your mouse on someone and attempt to not die). Then continue with the shotgun crits when your sentry finally dies. 66% damage reduction means you've gotta put a LOT of flares into that thing.

They say the wrangler lets you control aiming, but don't mention if you can also control the firing... without being able to fire we'll still have all the good players who stand just beyond the sensors and take it out like nothing. But if we can pull the trigger that offers some options. maybe too many options, given the increased speed.
'an engineer controlled sentry won't select targets by itself' - I can read this as 'point at enemy color and it shoots' or 'you got full control'
They also don't mention the range on this thing. Can we go hide in the corner somewhere in the hallway behind our gun and rely on it to protect us? It is a radar gun after all . . .
And does this shield effect also cover our gun if we stand next to it, or anyone else within it's radius, or is it just a personal thing. If it has a radius, dang that'll make a two engineer nest quite the roadblock/pit-stop.
Unless valve is trolling the forums with hints I suppose all this is pure speculation until Thursday, but y'all are so much smarter than me and probably debated it over last night in your finest hats. Now out with it.

They say the wrangler lets you control aiming, but don't mention if you can also control the firing... I'm betting on full kill-by-wire control, both direction and firing. They also don't mention the range on this thing. Can we go hide in the corner somewhere in the hallway behind our gun and rely on it to protect us? It is a radar gun after all . . . I'll bet range is whatever you can aim at, as long as it's visible to the sentry as well. And does this shield effect also cover our gun if we stand next to it, or anyone else within it's radius, or is it just a personal thing. The shield covers the gun while you've got the wrangler out, rather than the engy, so that the engy doesn't have to worry about beating his super sentry with a wrench every two seconds.

I'd rather not speculate. There's only about 36 hours before we get to use the damned thing.

That's 36 hours of agony, Faded.
