For this event, we turn off the critical hits and the damage spread, and we turn the voicechat system back to normal - no alltalk. Discuss below.

There's been some debate about whether alltalk should remain on. It makes the strategy a bit harder to work with, but we all miss taunting one another. Thoughts?

IDK, if we didnt turn off all talk I think I'd have a problem even realizing that we were playing straturday night fever. Seriously, I dont think I'd notice the non-random crits (perhaps there would be less swearing)

In all the mess of getting the server functional, I forgot to run this event. :-)
I'm actually thinking about ditching this, because people aren't ever trying to be strategic. Nobody discusses anything. I'm thinking make a private, more serious event once a month or something.
I'm thinking somewhere between a 5v5 to 8v8 match with limits of two of each class, no alltalk, random crits, or damage spread. It has to be private for the class limits, as the class limiting plugin breaks the server.
Hm, it seems my plan is fairly ready to run, I guess. Posting a signup in the events board. :-)

There's been some debate about whether alltalk should remain on...we all miss taunting one another. From another server I played on - they had alltalk off during the rounds. However, during the humiliation phase, and a few seconds thereafter, it automatically switched to all-talk to allow for the random-shit-talking. Is this possible, even worth looking into?

For the moment, at least until after the first trial, Serious Tuesday is supplanting Straturday Night Fever. We'll look into options on how to make Straturday better if it makes a comeback, but I'm thinking that Serious Tuesday may be a little better for things.
