"Spin down, turn around." That's what I always say to the heavy I'm healing.
A few nights of frustration on various servers with various people and I'm feeling the need to make a shout out to the heavies out there. (Though it'll probably only be useful to the newer heavies.)
While classes like Sniper, Soldier, and Demoman rely much on the players ability to aim correctly, Heavy relies less on that, and much more on being spatially aware. (Of course, all classes rely on it to some extent.)
When you're in a heavy/medic team, there's something you need to know: Someone is ALWAYS trying to kill your medic, and it's usually a spy or a scout. If your medic starts taking damage - spin down, turn around.
It's always good when walking to constantly look behind you, and spin down when going around corners in case of an enemy. You have to know where all the enemies are because you're incredibly slow and you're not going to be able to evade them. Always be focusing on what's going on in a 360 degree angle around you, and not just what's going on in front of you where you -think- the enemy team is. While playing medic I usually find myself having a good active knowledge of where the majority of the members of the enemy team are - The snipers, the spies, the scouts - and the only reason is because while moving, I constantly look around and check for danger, alerting my team around me when I see it. However, a medic can have all the battlefield knowledge in the world, but if his healing buddy doesn't have the same knowledge, there's no way he can react fast enough to a sneaky threat - and if he's not even expecting a sneaky threat, (which I find a lot - those who think all the enemies are in front of them) he won't be on his toes to react to his Medic or any other teammate calling for help because they see an enemy that the other player doesn't see.
