Alright, I've cleared this conceptually with Faded, and I figure I'll let the rest of you know what the plan is. Last year, everyone who participated posted their want list on their home page and then someone got them a gift (based on a lottery-style drawing of names). This year, we've got something different in mind. With the addition of the MannCo. store, we're going to fill the server with as many people as want in on this (up to 24 people including me), opening a Pile o' Gifts on the server. That means that everyone pays $19.99 and everyone gets 23 shiny new items. Hats, weapons, and anything that normally can drop can be in these. Now while that means you can't get an unusual hat, you can get regular hats all over the place, and with all the weapons likely to be dropping, trade for what you don't already have. I'm proposing we lock down the server so we don't get mooches wandering in. I'll put the password here when it's decided how many people want in. EDIT: The date is confirmed and will be December 19th. Time proposed: 6PM Central Time. Confirmed list (12 of 24 slots taken): Rhench Faded ScramblesHeller Vultan Pneuma Jamez Strata Crimson Nythengayle Church MYSTERY GUEST! Paul Morel Docs Fox Post here if you're interested. I'll be deleting your post as I add you to the list. If you have any ideas on how to make this event better, post that separately from your "I want in" post so we can discuss. Maybes: Whatsit EL A Freeloaders: Xadera

Right, I meant to post this thread before I left for Vultan's.
We need to choose a date and time *before* people sign up so everyone can be sure that they're free. I propose either the night of Saturday, December 18th, or Sunday, December 26th. Also, I'm thinking somewhere near 11pm Eastern, 8pm Pacific.
Anybody participating needs to join the server with a Pile O' Gifts and at least 25 empty slots in their backpack. The extras are to account for random drops.
Anybody participating in this event will get a free month of reserve slot access. Merry Christmas!
Edit: This is most likely going to be on December 18th 19th at 11 7pm Eastern.

I was honestly thinking not so close to Christmas as the 26th. A lot of people are out of town to visit relatives or have them over or are unconscious etc. I think I could get behind December 18th.

I would like to give the few extra items I have. (White Paint / V. Skullcutter / V. Chargin Targe / V. Dalohkohs bar / V. Cloak and Dagger. Be still my heart) I'm not really good at trading and kinda want to do something with these anyway.
However, I cannot buy any gifts, including the in-game giftset. Sadface. Can I be put on standby for the 18'th though, if the server doesn't get filled with paying patrons?

In the spirit of Christmas, 8 is close enough for me to not drop out.

Have we considered advertising this on the server, to see if we can generate any more interest?

The date is confirmed, the time is proposed, and we have 9 of a possible 24. The more people who do this, the more presents we all get!
Faded, I stickied this to keep it up here but didn't mean to put it ahead of the rules post. Not sure how to order them once they're stickied.

Fortunately, gifts have the name of the people who gifted them, so it'll be an easy way for us freeloaders to track who we give back the gifts too.
Unfortunately, with my computer dead I'm unsure if I'll be able to make it. I could potentially log on through my brother's computer, although I don't think he remembers what the password for his Steam is anymore (since it saved it for him). And I could possibly do it with his account, but his backpack only has like 6 open slots after I dumped so many items on him >. >

Yankee Sky Pirate: Freeloader, Bravo-Niner is still charlie-mike.
Dual H.C.E.R. present-seeking guides are oscar-mike, will keep down all blue on blue contact.
Alfa Mike Foxtrot. Tango-mike.

If you wish to have people know what you actually mean, you should say it in English. All I see is a bunch of words that make no sense. "Dual H.C.E.R." means nothing to me.

Sorry, I was going to narcissistically say that the devoted freeloader was still coming...
That made me think of Star Wars. From there I thought about Red Leader.
But I realized that I was actually the second freeloader on the roster, so I had to add the "B" code to my name...
But I had to look up what "B" was in the phonetic war-words guide, and from there I saw tango, which reminded me of Call of Duty...
But I had already thought of Red Leader (space raid on the Death Star), so I had to make it themed about space and air...
"American Air Pilot, Freeloader, Secondary (Niner sounded cool) is still good to go.
Dual High-Capacity-Extended-Reach, present-seeking guides are on the move, will keep down all friendly engagements.
Adios, M[... ...]s. Thanks much."
P.S. last night I was on some serious cold medicine.
Actually, not going. I know, I know... but, I have to endure my socio-economic life... Who on EARTH has a birthday party on Sunday?

So I'm thinking that freeloaders can just give the gifts they get back to the ones who gave them, which would necessitate a lot of trading, but be more worth it for those doing the event. However, getting that many freeloaders may require some form of compensation, so there may be prizes awarded to freeloaders.

So are the people who were in still in for 8 people? If we get ample freeloaders, you can still get 23 items per, but that would require we know 15 people we can trust to give all the items back.

Well, hopefully I'll be able to have my computer up and running tomorrow. If so, I could also possibly have my brother freeload with his account (or if he's not home, I'll freeload in his stead).
Scratch that, Fedex of NC seem to be lazy assholes and my package has not left the depot since it arrived there this morning. It moved a whole 20 minutes from its previous destination and stopped...
I'll only be able to freeload with one computer, if my brother lets me.
