Hey look, Faded's actually doing something for the server.
Scheduled for the following times: (All times EDT) Friday late-night, about 12:30am (After Friday's MKWEA Movie Night) Saturday evening, about 8:00pm Sunday evening, about 8:00pm
We'll be running normal maps until the server fills up, then launching into a list of custom maps both suggested in the Map Suggestions thread and from one of my secret repositories (which is mostly a list of things I should do for the server).
If the number of players drops to a low number, we'll jump back into a popular map or two to try and bring in people. The only way this event will end is if the server empties while we're on GoldBowl or DustRush or something.

ANYBODY WHO WANTS TO HELP RUN THESE EVENTS, shoot me a Steam message or post in this thread. If I know you well enough, I'll make you a temporary mod. You don't have to be there the whole time, but the more people we have with access to the commands, the smoother this will go, especially when my router dies right before the event.

If I don't have an updated version of SourceMod up and running by the time the event is supposed to start, I get to do everything manually. The event will still happen, and the two people who are volunteering get to do a WHOLE LOT MORE WORK. Sorry, guys, but if that's the way it has to happen, that's the way it happens.

I like cashworks, and Vertigo. Those are the ones I have the most fun on, especially cashworks.

Oh, just a note, since I was there for every map, I do remember when people commented positively or negatively about the map. If people commented negatively while it was being played, it's probably not hitting rotation. Like Convoy, for example. Maps most likely to return in some fashion: cp_fallout (Cap all 3 points) cp_furnace_b4 (Gravel-Pit-style) cp_redfort_b3 (The one with the red fort) koth_waste (Sewage line running under the point) pl_borax_rc2 (one of the kinda-large payloads, looks like this) This list is based on what I remember from this weekend. It can VERY easily be changed. The following list, however, cannot. Maps that WON'T go into regular rotation: Anything that broke the server cp_stag (Quake-era 5-point CP.) cp_warpath2 (Warpath.) ctf_impact ("The glass is breakable?!" "Don't break your own glass, dammit.") pl_cave_b6 (Nobody ever sees the last stage, unless they do.) cp_blackmesa_final (How do I get anywhere?) cp_corporation_b3 (Choke point of death and suck on stage 2, point 2.) ctf_steamroll (Fun every once in a while, not in regular rotation.)

Mostly that it doesn't really lend itself to be a good TF2 map. It's so open that you can be sniped from literally the other corner of the map, some of the paths are quite confusing and VERY narrow, the lone spawn point can be camped quite easily. Oh, and the textures are fucked.
Also, the bouncepad is an unintuitive object. Several players complained that they didn't know what launched them across the map.

1) I liked all the five that you pointed out as positive, with fallout being my favorite. For some reason, the scramble to grab all 3 points makes for some interesting rushes. (although, occasionally, this would end up with both teams completely missing one another en route to points.)
2) To agree with faded: Convoy has bouncepads? Routes across the map grind to two options: narrow paths or wide open sniper laden rooftops.

I had friends in town over the weekend so I didn't play often enough to see all the maps. I also didn't know what map we were on most of the time. Despite all this I remember one map in particular was pretty awful. It was a big payload map with tall chain link fences everywhere.
Also, I still hate redfort but, that's old news.
The red-lit gravelpit style map was pretty good.

Let me go with this: Waste is problematic on KOTH mode for just being super small and boring. There's no variety. No different way to do things. At least other KOTH maps are bigger or more convoluted or something. There's just no strategy, and it's deathmatch all the time.
Since I do things on weekends, I couldn't attend these events and thus didn't want to comment without being there.

Thanks, everyone, for saying you like a map, and then IMMEDIATELY CHANGING YOUR MIND.
I'll be removing some of the custom maps, because apparently people are too fucking chicken to actually tell me how they fucking feel.

I like redfort and fallout a lot plus they don't kill the server so I think they should stay. Furnace and Borax I enjoy but they both empty the server so I think they should go. Waste I am indifferent too and I think we should add lighthouse and swiftwater to the rotation again. That pretty much sums up what I think about the customs.

I enjoy lighthouse and swiftwater. I am indifferent to redfort and koth_waste (I enjoy cp_waste).
I haven't really played the rest, so whatever.
