I did but I didn't get anywhere near finished because I spent like 3 irl days wandering around lost. I'll continue working on it and post pics whenever I'm done.

Umm.... Somethings very wrong with the way my world loaded for you, Scrambles XD The floating glass globe was a perfect sphere, but it seems 1/3 of it got lopped off in transmission? o.O The TNT was all set up to go off at the same time too, but I suppose the missing section broke the redstone circuit XD
I'll check what I uploaded in a bit, maybe something went wrong in the zipping. Edit: It works fine for me, so I guess it just missed a chunk when you unpacked it or something. No biggie though, at least you got to see the bathroom XD

I'd send you mine scrambles, but it's heavily landmined. Over rivers of lava.

So I guess I wouldn't have finished the challenge even if I hadn't gotten lost, because I'm still nowhere near completion. Gonna finish it though! On the plus side, Notch announced a spooky Halloween update! It sounds pretty awesome, with new monsters, new torch mechanics, fish, working multiplayer, biomes, and hellportals. If he comes through on even one or two of those things I will be happy.

I am not happy about the torch mechanics. I'll have to go through all my dungeons, find all my waypoint torches, and die all over again. Granted, this makes sense, I'm just annoyed for my current map.

Notch has said that all current torches will become lanterns.

I think I'll only be annoyed if the lantern recipe takes something like 4 iron to make.

Agreed. But I think the idea is that starting out you have to keep lighting your torches, so it probably will take iron, just hopefully not too much. I have something like 200 torches, not counting the decorative ones in my home.

Again, Notch has said that any torches you currently have will become lanterns.

Again, Notch has said that any torches you currently have will become lanterns. He meant when you start a new world that you'd have to rely on torches until you found iron or w/e it takes to make a lantern. I, however, like the idea of the torches going out in this way.

Turns out Minecraft sends login information in plaintext, unencrypted. Some time in the future, Notch will be updating the Minecraft launcher to fix this security hole. I highly recommend you not use the same password for both Minecraft and other sites. (I also recommend you use unique passwords for every site, and not write them down anywhere.)

cake I can't tell if you're being serious or not... if you are, might I recommend any of the multitude of free password management programs out there? Here's one for starters: keepass.info/index.html

Turns out Minecraft sends login information in plaintext, unencrypted. Turns out the Notch is a lazy programmer after all.

I wouldn't say he's lazy. He was just uninformed. The passwords sent through a hash function before stored, so breaking into minecraft.net won't get you passwords, but watching transferred data will enable you to grab them. He's probably going to make the launcher hash the password before sending it.

Hey everyone, here's a link to the thread at the minecraft forums to my SMP server. Just post your name in there with a pic or two of some of your works and the mods will approve you in no time if you choose to join us there! (click images for bigger)Oh hey, this looks familiar. Each one of those boats represents me dying and having to sail back. There's not much traffic going the other way and for some reason they're not breaking when I ram them into the dock. The other continent is called Scrambleland, I didn't get a shot of that. Each one is named in honor of its discoverer. Well, this isn't much of a buil- fuck My main storage room and minecart station. There are three spots for carts in the station, and the track automatically switches to the next bay when one is occupied. Just to give you an idea of how much I've dug out, these chests (with the exception of the small one in the front right) are completely full of nothing but cobblestone. I've also gone through at least 4 diamond picks, I think. This grass took forever to propagate. Right here is 41 blocks above the bedrock (i.e. 23 below sea level). I have no need for this much wheat, but at least my farm is stylish. (It's not legible in the screenshot but that sign says SGC Slipgate Command.) As if building all this wasn't dorky enough, here's my Stargate: SG-1 inspired portal room. I'm very proud of those clamps. If we ever get redstone-controlled portals, my dream is to connect it up to a combination lock up here so I can dial the gate. Another shot of the embarkation room. I didn't take any shots of it because there's not much to see yet, but my base on the other end of this portal is of course called the Alpha Site. My interpretation of the little dipper, though unfortunately it's not on the north wall (or the spawnwise wall). I've been meaning to do more of these. The room in the bottom right is my monster trap. It's basically a little dark room where monsters will spawn, get swept away into a drowning trap, and deposit their loot onto some wooden pressure plates that trigger the indicator light. The crown jewel of my fort, the rail system. It spans from my main storage room all the way down to the bottom. There are two branches: one to the farm and one to the SGC. The switch for the SGC line can actually be controlled both from this button in the storage room and in the control room itself. This was ridiculously complicated to do and I think I'm basically qualified for a computer science degree now. I had to build a T Flip-Flop and hook both buttons up to the input (which was probably a bigger pain than actually building the thing). This will basically toggle the output between powered and unpowered every time either button is pressed. It was probably more trouble than it was worth to set up, but I had fun doing it anyway. I'll probably do another one for the farm line eventually. This is the last stop, just a few blocks from the bottom of the world. I have the same holding-bay system down here that I did up in storage. I still have a lot more to dig out, and so many more rooms to build. This will never be done, basically. A week might have been a little ambitious for my mega-pit. You gotta dream big.

Haven't played post patch. Has it come out? If so, is multiplayer fixed? If so, are we doing this yet?

If you mean the Boo patch then yes, it came out on Halloween. SMP still isn't really fixed yet, but there's supposed to be a patch tomorrow that will fix a lot of things including making buckets, minecarts, and boats work. Still no damage though.

I bought minecraft under the continuous pressure of 4 rl friends. I am going to make a house whose walls spell my name in FIRE. I shall make it out of wood and glass and bad ideas.

I haven't played Minecraft in so long, it's actually hard for me to get back into it. I'm in a weird place where I know some of what's going on, but not all of it. It's not all new to me, so that magic is lost, so I start working, but then something happens/appears and I'm totally lost.
